Build 1.6.6 Empty Build 1.6.6

Post by Admin Thu Jun 13, 2013 8:10 am

Build 1.6.6 will be coming this morning some time.
VERY IMPORTANT!!
Before installing please launch the app and:
1. Turn off ”Start GPS on Manual Launch”
2. Turn off “Use Distance instead of time”
3. Unplug the device if it is plugged in
4. Leave it unplugged until you have and do not start gps until you have gone through the settings.
Then update the app!

At this point you’re going to want to go into the settings page BEFORE starting the gps.
There is a new on/off switch. “Use Distance when Plugged In”. When switched on, this will switch modes automatically for you. Basically you set your timed updates to whatever works for you, say 3 minutes. Then you turn this switch on, and save your settings. Now when you get in your car and plug it in it will automatically switch over to distance mode. When you unplug the phone and get out of your car it will turn off distance and resume doing timed updates. If you are running this way there is no need to turn on “Use Distance Instead of time”. It will be handled for you.

I have also tweaked the distance routine to watch the distance moved a little closer. In my test it worked well, so I am going to put it out there to see how it works for others.

This will be posted on the forum.

So far so good. I have distance on if plugged in set. Seems to be working appropriately. I left my office, plugged my phone in my car and gos tracked my route. I'm now at another facility and the gps icon only going on every 5 min as set. String work! This rocks.

Build 1.6.6 Empty Re: Build 1.6.6

I've had two devices running the app (Thanks, Greg) and have had only one issue.  For about an hour just after I got both devices running the app and updating Snevl, I lost the HS maps for the devices and the multimap.  The maps would not display on the HS status page or the Snevl pages.  They are all working now.  Not sure what happened. And the HS log didn't show anything unusual.

Both worked using the new "Use Distance When Plugged In" switch.  And for a while both devices were in the same car updating to HS without issue.

Great job Greg.  And thanks again.

I can't use the part of the app that lets you look at a webpage from my homeseer. I don't think this is a problem with the app though. I've never been able to view a homeseer webpage not on wifi and I think it's a function of my router.

I should have added in my previous post, that I have a third device still using Google.  The individual maps for it did display in HS Status and Snevl and HS Touch iPhone app remotely.

Had a little problem this am. I took my phone off charge and the gps icon in the upper right hand corner has remained on. I looked in location services and system services and the arrow was only purple next to your app.

Yeah, there must be a bug. Because i put it on charge and then off again and gps still won't go off. When I go into the app it appears that I'm not on charge but I keep getting a pop-up every 2 sec that says updating Snevl.

Jay: something is odd becayse the app would never update every 2 secs to Snevl. What is you distance set at? As for the icon showing all the time. It's a bug in IOS. Sometimes the arrow shows all the time even though the services are off. I'm trying to find a solution for this. Turn all the switches in settings off, kill the app in task manager, and reboot the phone. oh and for the browser try adding a button with http://yourUserName:yourPassWord@ipAddress:yourPort . Leave off the port if you are using port 80.

JBBtex: There was a bug in a previous version of the app that cause the maps not to show. It was removed 2 builds ago. Gordon had the same problem. It was fixed by removing the app from the phone, going into Snevl and deleting the users, and the device links. Then setting everything back up. It may be lingering from a previous build.

I have distance set at 300. After I stopped the app and restarted it appears to be working normally again. Putting the user name, etc in the http address works. Thanks.

It is doing as I described above again. I had it plugged in and it started updating snevl frequently. I then unplugged it Nd the icon is still on. I then looked in snevl and it is still frequently passing gps data to snevl, at least every minute even though I have settings at every 10 min. Kind of evidence that it isn't responding to "unplugged" every time.
